Rhinos -v- Catalans: What Do I Expect?

Leeds currently sit 4th in the table with 3 games left. The maximum we can achieve is 3rd place, the worst is 7th (although that would have to be a very bad change of form). Catalans are in a similar position but don’t have the minor distraction of the Challenge Cup Final next weekend. Is this their chance to take an easy 2 points from Leeds?

I’m a bit disappointed that the game isn’t being shown on Sky as it’s the pick of the games this weekend. I won’t be surprised if Catalans win, just as London did last night against Warrington. If they do win I don’t think the score line will be anywhere near one sided as last night.

Do Leeds really need to go 100% to win this game? They won the title from 5th last year thanks to some fantastic end-of-season form. I think that this is the ideal game for Leeds the week before the final. Catalans and Warrington are very similar in some areas: big powerful pack, fast three-quarter line and creative half backs.  The game may prove more useful than any training session would.

Leeds need to go into this game aiming for a win and a good performance to give them the best send-off for Wembley. Going into the game half-hearted will serve no useful purpose. The players are more likely to get injured and the good form & momentum they have at the moment risks being disrupted.

That said, each player will have Wembley in the back of their mind and won’t want to get injured for the big day.

I expect Leeds to lose, but still but up a good fight.
